A record of two boroughs

Bolton & Bury Churches is a photographic and written record of the parish churches, chapels and meeting houses of the metropolitan boroughs of Bolton and Bury, in Greater Manchester.

Entries combine visits and original photographs with credited images and research. Some churches use Street View while photographs are sought. Map positions may be approximate. Where history is documented in listing records, parish archives or the congregation’s own account, it is written up and credited. Record review labels show where further checking is needed.

The record is not complete and does not pretend to be. Churches close, congregations merge and buildings change hands; some are recorded here as they were on the day they were photographed. New entries are added as buildings are surveyed.

Corrections and contributions

If something here is wrong, out of date, or missing, please say so. Corrections from the congregations themselves are especially welcome — you know the building better than any listing record does.
